Abstract: If you’ve ever worked in cybersecurity, you know that defense is a team sport. The difference between every win and loss is directly related to the strength, speed, and agility of our teams — and the systems we engineer and operate. When thinking about the future of cybersecurity, our first thought is often technology on the horizon — some of which will help us, some of which will challenge us. Knowing that technology is only part of the equation, how should we invest, train, and build our cyber capabilities? It’s a long game, so let’s consider lessons from today’s teams that give us insight into how to prepare tomorrow’s defenses.
Allison Miller is a member of the Cyber Security Technology’s Senior Leadership Team, and leads the Engineering organization. She is accountable for delivering security, identity, and authentication technology and services to partner teams within GIS, GT&O, and across the enterprise.
With over 15 years of building teams and technology that protect people and platforms, Allison is recognized for her expertise in designing and implementing real-time risk prevention and detection systems running at internet-scale. Prior to her current role, Miller held technical and leadership roles in security, risk analytics, and payments/commerce at Google, Electronic Arts, Tagged/MeetMe, PayPal/eBay, and Visa International.
Allison holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and University of California, Berkeley and is currently pursuing an M.S. in Applied Economics at the Johns Hopkins University.
Allison currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. As a new resident she is exploring the area and looking for opportunities to engage with the local art community. In the meantime she is entertaining her two rescue dogs, trying to complete her degree program at JHU, and serves as a Trustee for the Center for Cyber Safety and Education.
