Bio: Marie VanCleave is an accomplished Information Security leader with an extensive record
of delivering transformational cybersecurity and risk management programs. As the head of
Wells Fargo’s Secure Software Group, Marie is responsible for ensuring that software is secure
from the start by embedding secure development practices and tools into modern application
architectures. This is accomplished through a combination of training, requirements, guidance,
tools, and services provided in ways that accelerate Agile development and CI/CD delivery to
both on-prem and cloud platforms.
Marie has nearly 30 years of experience driving effective security at scale to protect the
customers and assets of the world’s largest financial institutions. Prior to joining Wells Fargo,
Marie led global Information Risk Management programs for Barclaycard, was the eCommerce
BISO at MUFG Union Bank, led Data Protection and Endpoint Security for U.S. Bank, and
established the application security program for a leading vendor of financial services software.
She started her cybersecurity career at Intel Corporation where she developed the open-source
APIs used as the foundation of OSX and AIX cryptography for nearly a decade.
