Shawn Gunsolley
Shawn Gunsolley is the Information Security Executive leading Identity
& Authentication Services for Cyber Security Technology. Identity &
Authentication Services provides modernized systems and processes that
authenticate internal users and commercial clients to bank-owned
systems. Their mission is to better secure the integrity of the bank’s
network, data, and users, sustain the productivity of the enterprise, and
enhance the bank’s overall security. The team also owns Public Key
Infrastructure governance and maintenance for the enterprise.
Shawn joined the bank in 2013 to lead a multi-year transformation
initiative rewriting the centralized processing of image-based check
transactions. Shawn went on to manage Client Research & Resolution
Technology for Image & Transaction Services and led the technology
delivery of the Cash Transportation & Enterprise Card Issuance teams
before joining Global Information Security in 2020.
Prior to joining the bank, Shawn was the Director of Application
Development for an energy company in which he was responsible for
developing a smart grid solution for commercial and consumer electric
customers. The products developed provided real time management and
control to electric companies, deployed domestically and globally. Shawn’s
background in system development stems from his years of experience
as a technology consultant for Red Hat and Booz Allen Hamilton. During
this time Shawn worked in financial, retail, cable telecommunications,
insurance, health care, energy, and government sectors.
Shawn graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State
University with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and from
The Johns Hopkins University — Carey Business School with a master’s
degree in business information systems. He also holds certificates from
the operational development program at the University of Michigan’s
Ross School of Business, the technology development program at
Georgia Institute of Technology, and the Securities Industry Institute (SII)
program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.
Shawn is currently attending the Cyber Development program at the MIT
Sloan School of Management.
