Abstract: The Five Stages of (IoT) Grief. From denial to acceptance, Jeff will walk through the five stages of (IoT) grief, and talk about how we can all come to grips with the explosion of connected devices dominating our homes and workplaces. He’ll discuss the definition of IoT, how to use connected devices securely (including when not to use them), the threats they pose, and how policymakers in Washington and at the state level are coping with new technology.
Jeff Greene is the Vice President, Global Government Affairs & Policy at Symantec, where he leads a global team of policy professionals who focus on cybersecurity, data integrity and privacy issues. Prior to joining Symantec, Jeff was Senior Counsel with the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, where he focused on cybersecurity and Homeland Defense issues. He has also worked in the House of Representatives, where he was a subcommittee staff director on the House Committee on Homeland Security. His first job on the Hill was as counsel to the Senate’s 2005-06 Special Investigation into Hurricane Katrina. Before that he was an attorney with a Washington, D.C. law firm, where his practice focused on government contracts and contract fraud, as well as general civil and criminal investigations.
