Tom Bartolomeo is the head of Wells Fargo’s Cyber Security Defense and Monitoring (CSD&M) organization. He brings 23 years of information security experience and 35 years of financial services experience to the role.

Tom leads more than 500 team members in CSD&M who are accountable for global, enterprise-wide efforts to reduce the company’s exposure to cyberattacks through monitoring, analysis, and ongoing assessment of the security threat landscape.

Tom and his team manage this risk through three state-of-the-art Cyber Threat Fusion Centers, constant threat monitoring and vulnerability assessment, security analytics, cyberthreat intelligence correlation, security strategies and architecture, and the enterprise application security program. All this work is done in close partnership with global teams to allow for 24×7 continuous coverage.

Tom rejoined Wells Fargo in April 2015, after serving as chief information security officer for First Citizens Bank in Raleigh, North Carolina. He also served as the chief technology officer for one year. While with First Citizens, he was responsible for the oversight, implementation, and continuous improvement of all aspects of the enterprise information security program.

Prior to that, Tom spent 17 years at Wells Fargo/Wachovia/First Union, holding roles including director of Information Security Technology during the Wells Fargo acquisition of Wachovia and director of Corporate Information Security Strategy, Architecture, and Threat Intelligence for Wachovia.

Tom holds an MBA in corporate finance from Adelphi University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration/marketing and economics from State University of New York at Albany. He holds several information security certifications, including Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
